Instructions:
Note: Refer to diagram to cut fabric as indicated below. All fabric is sewn right sides together with a scant ¼” seam allowance.
1. Cut dark blue fabric:
a. (2) 2 ½” x 10 ½”
b. (2) 2 ½” x 6 ½”
c. (2) 2 ½” x 2 ½”
2. Cut light blue fabric:
a. (2) 2 ½” x 8 ½”
b. (2) 2 ½” x 4 ½”
3. Cut green fabric:
a. (6) 2 ½” x 2 ½”

4. Arrange all the pieces on work surface as shown.

5. Tip: Before beginning to sew, test seam allowance. From scrap fabric, cut three 2 ½” x 4” strips. Sew them together along the long sides with a scant ¼” seam allowance. Press the seams, then measure the total width. It should measure 6 ½” exactly. If not, try moving needle one notch to the right to reduce the seam allowance a tiny bit, and try again. Continue to adjust until you achieve the 6 ½” width.
6. For the first row, sew one green square to the left side of one dark blue 10 ½” strip.

7. For the second row, sew a dark blue square to the left side of a green square, and an 8 ½” strip to the other side the green square.
8. Continue to sew together each row, following the diagram, until all are complete.
9. Press the strips to flatten the seams.

10. Place first row and second row right sides together, and ensure the seams match up. Use quilt pins to hold in place, and then sew the two rows together

11. Repeat this process, row by row, nesting the seams, until all the rows are sewn together.
12. Press the quilt block.
