Description
Dritz paper piecing shapes are reusable, pre-cut shapes made from card stock that is heavy enough to hold its shape, but still flexible enough to be easily removed from fabric. There is no sewing machine required for paper piecing. Fabric is folded over paper piecing shapes and secured with basting stitches; then, pieces are joined together by whip stitching edges together to form larger shapes. The hole in the middle of the Dritz paper piecing shapes makes it easy to remove them at the end, using a crochet hook, pencil or stiletto. The goal of paper piecing is to make small shapes with precision for use in quilting, sewing and craft projects. This pack includes 140 1-3/4\" diamond shape paper piecings.

Usage & Care

Usage Instructions:

    1. Place paper piece on wrong side of fabric. Cut fabric at least 1/4 in larger than paper.
    2. Fold the seam allowance over the edge of paper piece and baste in place with bigger stitches. Continue basting all sides.
    3. To join shapes, take two pieces and place them right sides together. Use matching thread and whip stitch pieces together, just catching the edge of fabric. Use small stitches trying to maintain 6-10 stitches per inch.
    4. Once all pieces are stitched together, remove basting stitches and take out paper pieces. A crochet hook, pencil or stiletto slipped into the hole in paper piece can help you remove paper pieces.
